Canman’s 2008 Christmas List.

This is my “real” 2008 Christmas list. I’m doing my best to keep it “realistic”. However, asking for the “non realistic” stuff is part of the fun. Simply click on the Amazon link to find the item.

Stuff for The Canman Show:
This is stuff that I could use to help make the show better.

I could use 5 of these:

I could use 1 of these:

I really want to get a digital audio recorder.   I would like something portable that I could take with me to record live interviews and events.

I could use 1 extra microphone.  (that way I can give Tim back his).

could use 2 or 3 of these:

I could use 2 of these, but would be happy with 1.

Stuff  for me-

Books:
I am a huge fan of “The Dresden Files” books. I’ve read the whole series except these last Three.

Electronics:
I’d love a Blue Ray player. Currently one of the best of them on the market is built into the Sony PS3.

I already own a 30 gig Zune. I’m running out of space on it and would love one of the newer models.

This AV pack allows my Zune to be part of my entertainment center

Juggling Stuff:
Learning more about contact juggling is high on my list. If you get me only 1 thing, please let it be this:

and the balls

Movies:
I own a HD DVD player, but since they’ve been discontinued I’m banking on getting a Blue Ray player. Thus the Blue Ray titles on my list:

Video Games:

Other toys:
From my favorite movie of all time!

Obligatory Star Wars Items

This one is high on my list

That’s what I got for now… I’m sure I can dream up a few more items to put on here.- Canman

Stuff on my mind today 11/18/08

Gas Prices.  I was reading this article on Gazetteonline.com and it got me thinking.  Which is scary I know.  In the comments someone posted this map.      I find it very interesting that in Des Moines, the average gas price was $1.65 to $1.75 per gallon.   In Cedar Rapids the average gas price is $1.95 to $2.05 per gallon.   Why is it $0.75 cheaper in Des Moines?  Many people feel it’s price fixing.    Which wouldn’t surprise me… Anyone with some in site on this one, please send it my way.

Canman, Zach and Kris Canfield

Canman, Zach and Kris Canfield

Tonight at 7:00 pm is Java and Jazz  concert at Cedar Rapids Washington High School in their band room.  My son Zach plays trumpet in their “Jazz Also” band.     Tickets are $8.00 available at the door and they have cookies, cake and Java Oh My!   It promises to be a fun time!

Speaking of Zach, he’s looking forward to today’s DVD release of “Tropic Thunder“.   He gives it a high rating and says he “laughed his butt off”.   I did not look at his butt to confirm this,  however he stands behind that statement.

WALL-E (the potentially less offensive Disney movie) also comes out today.  Rob Merritt said earlier this year that “this is one of the best Disney movies ever released.”     If Rob said it, I believe it.

That’s all I got for now- Canman

P.S. Don’t forget to go cheer on the Cedar Rapids Rollergirls this weekend!!!

Getting healthy day 14.

It’s been 2 whole weeks without caffeine!  It was rough this past weekend.   I was at the Palace Theatre in Vinton, IA working the Sound board for the ACT1 production of “The Cay”.    The people who ran the theatre offered us free soda pop.  It was very difficult to pass on.   I’m proud to say that I did pass it up!

It might be my new beard, but my face seems to be starting to look a little thinner.   Now if I can just make my stomach start to look a little thinner (without sucking it in)….

Speaking of the Palace Theatre in Vinton. I must say how impressed I am with the theatre.  It’s very clean and looks grand spanking new!   Want to take a guess on how much they charge to see a movie there?    $2.00!!!  NO KIDDING!   They’ll be running High School Musical 3 Thanksgiving weekend.   Friday and Saturday 2pm and 7pm and Sunday at 7pm.   I’ll be making the trip there to  take Zoe to see it.   She’s a huge HSM fan.

XBox 360 Update- According to UPS tracking, it was delivered to Microsoft Repair at 11:20 AM  today.    Now it’s a matter of waiting….

Just remember-

That’s all I got for now…- Canman

Janelle Lauers NEW CD!

Janelle Lauer's NEW CD!

It’s no secret that I pre-record my interviews for The Canman Show.   Last night I had the pleasure of interviewing Janelle Lauerabout her new CD “Change” and her upcoming CD release party.    This CD is very R&B with a rock slant.   Very nice!  It’s rocking my Zune Today!.    Be sure to pick it up when you get a chance and hear a special sneak peak of it on Episode 10!!!    I’ll post more information on her show in Episode 10’s show notes (coming Late Thursday Night or Friday Afternoon).

Hellboy 2 “The Golden Army” came out yesterday on DVD.   I’m going to have to buy this one!    I’m a huge Hellboy fan.   I have been ever since Kevin turned me on to Mike Mignolia’s art full and creative comic book and novels.  Hellboy’s been described as X-files meets an X-file.    Full of humor and very intelligently written.    Be sure to pick up any and all Hellboy comics you can.   They rock!  (pardon the pun)

Getting Healthy Day 10:  10 days no soda pop or caffeine.   I did go a little hog wild yesterday at lunch and over ate a little.   We went to Pizza Ranch in North Liberty.   It’s pretty good, but the food can’t be good for you.   I made up for it by eating a sensible supper.   Still working on getting exercise.   We walked around Sam’s club last night.   That was fun.   They’re gearing up for the holidays and had all the cool toys out.

Speaking of Toys.  On my excursion to Sam’s they had one of those “Kota” animatronic Triceratops dinosaurs on display.   It was out for people to play with….   I fell in love with it.   It’s so life like, you can even feed it fake leaves and when you tickle his chin, he has a funny reaction. It’ll be on the top of my.. err my daughter’s Christmas list this year.

Xbox Update:Today the box came to ship my dead Xbox-360 back to Microsoft.   We immediately packed it up when I got home from work and ran it to UPS.    Now I’m crossing my fingers that we get it back before Christmas- Canman

Stuff on my mind today 11/10/08

I had an awesome weekend.   I spent some quality time with the kids watching movies.   We watched Kung Fu PandaElf and The Santa Clause.    I guess I was in the mood for Christmas movies (snow does that to me).     Zoe and I got up early today and had breakfast together.   That was awesome!

I read Gazetteonline.com daily.   I enjoy all the articles and it helps me keep up on what’s going on in my area of the world.    Lately I’ve been a little bummed about the comments being left on the site.   They seem to have developed a “Forum Troll” problem.    I don’t mind constructive criticism.  Especially when someone who posts it with their “Real” name.

The issue I have comes from people who post nothing but negative, hateful, comments stuff like  “This is the stupidest article I’ve ever read, the person who wrote it should be fired”.  Then they sign the article with a pseudonym.   They don’t have the guts to post it under their real name.    It’s easy to spread hate and negativity when no one knows who you are.

I’ll get off my soap box after I remind you what my Grandma taught me,  “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.    She also taught me “if I feel strongly enough to say something negative about a subject, don’t just complain about it,  suggest something to make it better … and don’t be a chicken… Sign your name to it…. ”

Update 11/10/08 12:50 pm.   I had to laugh when reading the comments from this story.   The comment from Ann Onamouse 11/10/08 08:55:00 AM cracked me up!   So I guess some comments where people don’t use their real name are o.k….  LOL.  Check it out…

Getting Healthy Day 7.   It’s been 1 full week with no soda-pop.   It’s been 5 days and no sweets.    I’m starting to get full when I eat!   Last night I could only eat 2 pieces of pizza before I felt full!     That’s a pretty awesome feeling!   I could do a better job of getting some exercise.   I’ll work on that this week.

On my Zune.  I’m listening to the Album Lenka, by Lenka.   What a fun CD.   Her voice reminds me a little of Regina Spektor.   I love it!   The whole album is worth the buy.   My favorite song on the album is “The Show”.   Check it out!

On a positive note..  Thanksgiving is 17 days away!   Gobble Gobble- Canman.
